MIDDLEBURY — Animals for Life, a non-profit animal rescue organization, is hosting a food drive throughout the month of August.
The rescue group is in dire need of both dog and cat food, and hopes that members of the community will assist by dropping off donations of food right at the shelter, located at 2 Service Rd. in Middlebury, next to Maggie McFly’s Restaurant.
The shelter is open from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 5 to 7 p.m. Friday; 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 3 p.m. Sundays (except holidays).
Donations should be of unopened and unexpired bags or cans of dog and cat foods. In addition to food, the shelter also needs cat litter, preferably the clumping kind as it is easier for the volunteers to clean.
Since 1996, Animals For Life has placed more than 3,600 animals into loving homes.
The organization relies on public support to continue helping abused, neglected, and stray animals. Foster homes are critical and in short supply.
New members wishing like to donate time or talent in any amount are most welcome.
