BELGARDE- Some families in the Ashland area have to give up their pets after losing their homes and nearly everything they own because of the Ash Creek fire.
Montana Murray Kennels are trying to change that. The company is collecting donations of new or gently used pet supplies that they hope to transport to Ashland this coming Friday.
The company has been in contact with the Humane Society in Billings and they say there is a huge need for leashes, collars, bowls, bedding, and food for dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens.
“These folks that live down in the Ashland area, Browning area, Northern Cheyenne, they’re working people that are losing everything including ranch lands. This is just the tip of the iceberg; if we can do a little bit to try and help keep the family structure in place that’s what we’re hoping for right now,” said Ron Murray, Owner of Montana Murray Kennels.
Once they make their initial drop-off to Ashland, they hope to continue collecting donations so they are available to other communities in need as the wildfire season continues.
You can drop off any donations at their Belgrade kennel located at 27 Dollar Drive off of Frontage Road. They are open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. If you can’t make it during their normal business hours, Murray says to leave donations by the back door.
